The children have been very busy this month and the end of the academic year is fast approaching,  some of June activities include : 

  • Body parts including size - The children were talking about body parts and they enjoyed singing head, shoulders, knees and toes, exploring different and more difficult body parts using the pen pal and drawing round our bodies / comparing the different sizes, who was bigger and who was smaller.
  • Colour mixing - exploring what colour when mixed together make different colours by using coloured water, coloured foam, coloured gloop, the children then painted their feet with paint to mix the colours together (Very messy)  
  • Understanding the world around them / Expressive arts & design

Transport - This time exploring different modes of transport such as cars, trucks and trains . The children have been creative with junk modelling by making their own vehicles in all different shapes and sizes. Also using cars, trucks and paint the children have made a large painting using the wheels. 

Animals - Exploring different animals though noises, stencils, paint / foam using plastic animals to make foot prints and using soft animals the animals where placed in cages and the children role played by feeding them. The theme then moved to the outdoor areas when the children made their own binoculars and went bird watching in the nature garden, then looking for worms in the mud kitchen.   

Past and present - The children spoke about holidays, some of the children had been on holiday and some said they had been on holiday before. The children spoke about      the beach, the sea and what they did while away. The staff provided activities such as playing in the water and the sand, making sand castles so all the children could join in together.

 

  • Relaxation - As the weather was really hot the children took the time to low down and relax in the nursery spa, the children made their own cucumber and lemon water, relaxed with cucumber eye masked and listened to music. All the children enjoyed a much more laid-back time.
  • Library visit - The older children have enjoyed a visit to the library, choosing books to read, sharing books with friends and adults this has helped to develop their literacy skills.
  • Being imaginative - The children made their our own Nintendo switches using card board and pens. Then pretending to play computer game such as Mario kart racing with their friends to the finish line using their imagination skills. 
  1. Physical development – The children walked to the local park, was shown road safety and how to cross the road correctly by using the crossings. While at the park the children developed their skills in running, climbing, balance and hand eye coordination.
